Procrastination

Procrastination is lack of self control,act of delaying your task even knowing that you have to do it. It is the force which prevents from following through on what you set out to do. In our modern life of social media and networking, procrastination is enhanced and we can’t work consistently even for half an hour.

The reason behind procrastination is time inconsistency of human brain to value immediate rewards more highly than future rewards.

Everyone have 86400 seconds daily to make every second useful. Every second spent can never be back. So, we should use every moment of life effectively so that we may not have to repent on it. The most successful personalities owe their success to effective time usage.

Pomodoro Technique

A technique developed by Fransesco Cirillio for better time management in late 1980s. It says that break down the whole work into intervals separated by short breaks.

PROCEDURE

There are 6 steps to follow this technique

· Decide on the task to be done

· Set the timer

· Work on the task

· End work when timer rings and put checkmark on piece of paper

· Repeat the steps 1–4 for 2nd interval

After 4–5 intervals take long break

My Experience

I applied this technique to complete online course. I divide time in 20 minutes intervals and break of 10 minutes. It made me consistent and finished my work in a day which used to take 2–3 days

I always use this technique to work on my tasks. This is really helpful in managing the time and get rid of procrastination

Yes, in this way productivity is enhanced and procrastination is limited. There is more effective time usage. Most importantly, it give peace of mind.

Do you plan on doing this again regularly, and what will you do to improve the experience?

Yes, I will apply this technique where possible to increase my productivity and reduce time wastage.

I will bring variation in time interval to suit the situations.

Conclusion

Procrastination kills our time and shifts our focus to something else.It disturbs our future goals and focuses on present state. Pomodoro technique is helpful in better time usage, make us non-procrastinated, helps us focussing on future goals and gives us peace of mind.
